Spider Farmer 2000 Overview
This Spider Farmer 2000 grow light pulls 200 watts from the wall. It uses Samsung LM301b diodes and has a dimmable Mean Well Driver.
It measures 25.5 x 10.5 x 2.3 inches and weighs 6.76 pounds. It comes with light hangers too.

This LED grow light offers full spectrum lighting so your plants will grow well under it. It has added red diodes that will help enhance flowering.
Spider Farmer 2000 PAR Map
In my video I did a PAR test at 16 inches above the buckets. Par was more than adequate, and I found the coverage to be fairly even.
My Par Readings
I took some PAR readings in the video, but I wanted to do a more thorough set of readings.
I took a bunch more readings across the middle of my grow space and measured how much light each plant was getting even though they had different heights. Here is what I found:

Here are some PAR readings I took across my grow. The top numbers show PAR above each plant. The bottom numbers show PAR across the center at 6 inch intervals.
LED lights will always have the highest PAR readings in the center, and they will be lowest in the corners. That goes for all LED grow lights regardless of price or manufacturer.
My light is hanging in the open. PAR readings would be much higher inside a grow tent. So, I think their PAR map is pretty accurate.
At higher PAR levels you would require additional CO2 for plants to be able to use the light.
Our ambient CO2 levels are about 400-450. For this level of CO2 a PAR level of 600 would be more than enough for all vegetables.
Spider Farmer SF2000 Review
So, this light was very well packed. It was wedged between 2 sheets of cardboard that had foam padding attached to it. The light was well protected from any damage. Unfortunately, due to a camera hiccup I lost some of this video footage.
My first impression of the SF 2000 was that it was solid and well built. It reminded me a lot of my HLG 300. They are both the same size although the HLG 300 has 50 more watts which means more diodes too. Both lights use Samsung LM301b diodes.
What came in the box is a bunch of light hangers and a cable that I’ll talk about in a minute. There also is owner’s manual and you can see what the spectrum looks like and there are some specifications here for various lights they make.
The spectrum is not quite as full as the HLG 300 but it is close enough and the Spider Farmer SF2000 is half the price.
How Hot Does It Get?
I read that the board was made from steel while most lights use aluminum. I was concerned a steel board might not dissipate heat as well as aluminum.
But it turns out this information is wrong, mine is made from aluminum.
It runs pretty cool too. Surface temperature was 110-113 degrees, and the driver was about ten degrees more than that. That’s good.
Poor Man’s HLG?
I consider this a poor man’s HLG, but that does not mean it won’t do a good job for you.
Remember too that HLG lights are designed for cannabis which has the highest light requirement of anything grown indoors.
Cannabis can take twice the light of a tomato for example. So, it is more than adequate for any vegetable you will grow.
The Spider Farmer SF2000 is good for a three by four feet area for veg and two by four feet for flower. I have mine hanging over a two by four area and I can tell you it covers it very well.
Spider Farmer Control Box
On the top of this light there is a control box that has an on and off switch. It has a dimmer, and it has two ports.
What the ports are for is to daisy chain two lights together. They include one cable in the box.
You can hook two of these lights together in tandem and then you can dim them all with just one control.
Not really a big issue for most of us but it’s kind of good to know it’s there if you are running multiple lights.
I really like the added on/off switch. With all my other lights I have to unplug them if I want to shut them off.
Here is what it looks like with the light on. I know my cameras dont get a great photo of it because it is so bright. But you get the idea.
So, I’ve hung the Spider Farmer light up and have plugged it in. This one as you can see has some red LED diodes in it which helps flowering. I definitely give this light a thumbs up
Checking Out My Veggies Under The Spider Farmer 2000
My plants are doing fine. The lettuce is going crazy, and I want to show you how they are doing. Except for the lettuce they are about 10 days old.

The Spider Farmer 2000 is 16 inches from these plants and they’re getting plenty of light. Also don’t forget the plants are going to get taller.
In the video I tried to use a PAR meter to measure the light the plants were getting. It is hard to do one handed though.
On top of the tomato pot, I got 544 micromoles and I’m sure it’s higher right at the top of the plant but that is plenty of light.
The cucumber pot is actually getting 635 micromoles and like I said that’s because the LEDs are always brighter right in the center.
The pepper plant on the end took a little bit longer to sprout so it is pretty small still. Here on this pot, we have a PAR reading of 549. Now on the far end it’s 374.
This lettuce which is not directly under the light we’re about 200 -211 micromoles which isn’t bad, all things considered.
So, this light has good power and it’s pretty even all throughout the spread.
And this lettuce here is really going to town. This is my modified Kratky tub, so it’s getting more than enough light.
This is a two-by-four-foot area and everything is getting a good amount of light so I’m happy with the Spider Farmer SF2000.

In my closets I have HLG lights, and they are great lights, but this is about half the cost, and it’ll work just fine for you and is much easier on your wallet.
So, I would take a look at the Spider Farmer 2000 because you might want this for your vegetables. If you want to grow vegetables indoors you are going to need a grow light.
It’s good for two by four area. But if you’re just growing lettuce, you could probably double that area, because lettuce only needs about half the light that tomatoes or peppers or cucumbers do.
That’s my unboxing and a quick review of the Spider Farmer SF2000. I’m happy with the quality of this LED grow light.
It looks good, the dimmer works and gives off plenty of light. After putting it through the paces and all that good stuff it’s a good unit and a great value for the money.
